How sound healing changed my life.

What is sound healing, how I ended up being a sound healer and how it changed my life.

The summer of 2021 I found myself in the dense jungle, along the shores of a volcanic lake, in Central America. A desire to deepen my knowledge of Yoga and Vedic wisdom brought me to San Marcos La Laguna, on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

The simple act of returning my teachers ukulele to our Yoga shala and a meeting with a magical flute brought sound healing to me. That flute became the first of many instruments that have come into my care. I knew in my heart that the 100-hour Sound Ceremony training was for me the second my new friend shared it with me. It started the same day I would graduate from my Yoga training.

At the start or the training, I knew that this was the reason I had come to Guatemala. I opened my relationship to sound, music, and my own voice. I learned how to weave ceremony, ritual and vibration into a space created for healing. Experiencing this training immediately after graduating from my Kula Collective 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training had me feeling refreshed, confident, and ready to share sound as ceremony and medicine. When I returned home I began sharing sound healings and other wellness events. Creating healing spaces is my highest honor and privilege and I wouldn't be able to do it without the guidance and encouragement of all my teachers.

So, what is sound healing exactly?

Well, first let's get back to the basics, what is sound?

I found these words from my 100-hour Sound Ceremony Course Training Manual explain it perfectly,

Sound is everything, it is all of life, that which is moving and vibrating, from the smallest particle to the entire cosmos. Sound is not limited only to the faculty of the ears. We feel sound through the skin, our bones, through our energetic body as it enters our field and moves through us.

The body and vibration.

Every organ tissue and cell has its vibration, when in harmony creates the most wonderful symphony imaginable, the human body. Scientific studies show us that sound has the capacity to create change in the autonomic, endocrine, immune, and neuropeptide systems. Both sound and music (simply put, organized sound) assist in allowing the body-mind to come into a deep state of relaxation where the bodies inherent capacity for self-healing can occur.

What is a Sound Ceremony?

Working with sound as a way of healing came to me in the form of Sound Ceremony. Sound healing and Sound Ceremony are the ceremonial application and experience of sound that opens the possibility for healing to become available for those who are willing.

Put Simply Soud Healing is a therapeutic modality that utilizes sound, vibration and resonance to improve wellbeing.

What to expect
